What we believe in

What we believe in

Since the inception of the School, one of the most important factors which contributed to the School’s stability and success has been the Family and Caring ambiance that has always been an essential component of the School ethos. Teachers, parents and students feel that they belong to the School and are part of this One Big Family (which is also the name of our School Anthem) that is our over 700-strong School population.

St. Catherine’s High School believes in creating a home where we care for every individual, be it student or member of staff, and where we strive to provide a haven to the many parents who enter into its fold dreaming of a sound, holistic, competency-based curriculum for their children. The School Headship and Management Teams work tirelessly to nurture spaces of personal, social and value-based growth for each and every student in their care. Each year, a social theme is chosen and every effort is made so that the students learn the importance of community, ethical and spiritual values, and adopt and live a philosophy based on care in continuation of the legacy that has long been characteristic of St. Catherine’s.

On the academic level, the School maintains its position of excellence at the forefront of preparing its students in academic disciplines, physical education endeavours and moral development. St. Catherine’s High School works incessantly to develop future-oriented strategies aimed at creating learning processes for our students that are innovative, engaging and motivational in nature. St. Catherine’s vision centres on creating learning outcomes providing academic excellence, sound and active citizenship, and holistic personal and social development of all its students.

At St. Catherine’s High School, we believe that:

· Students thrive in a community that is based on an ethics of Care and Professional Love. We love our students for who they are and we try our best to

facilitate their holistic development by offering a broad-based curriculum which focuses on the acquisition of 21st century skills, values and formative experiences aimed at the development of the head, heart and soul of our learners;

· Children embrace learning more enthusiastically when the environment is conducive to their overall well-being and the students are happy and thus, we work to create learning journeys that are engaging and targeted at the developmental stages of the learners;

· Discipline and structure are important characteristics in School life and they help to nurture the formation of good citizens of the world;

· Values maketh the wo/man – throughout the journey at our School, we hold high the tenets of love, respect, acceptance, faith, hope, love for the environment and community-building;

· Communication between the School and the parents/guardians is essential for the smooth learning process of the learners;

· The School community should be inclusive and that it is a space for all genders, faiths, abilities and cultures. Inclusion in all forms is celebrated at our School and a culture of equity is nurtured;

· Academic processes need to be focused on the learner in tandem with national/international educational trends and economic needs and as such, our curricula are reviewed regularly to respond to the latter.

We are confident that every learner who joins our Family will eventually leave our School at the end of the journey with amazing and happy memories lived at School and academic competencies grounded in a well-rounded personality.

We look forward to this exciting journey of learning and personal and social development with your son/daughter!

School Anthem - One big Family

(Music: Joseph F. Midolo – Lyrics: Paula Barbara)

 Many faces all around

Some with smiles and some with frowns

On the first day of the year

Of the school life we all share

Still we remember that very first day

Uniform tidy and bag in hand

We came to face

This new special place

All on our own

A kind of new home

We never knew

What it would be like

To form part of this life.

In our work or play we learn to try our very best

Face our mistakes without feeling any shame

For we all know how important it is

To follow seriously these days

Which nothing can bring back.

Happy we can always be

Helping each other

One big family

One big family

In sadness or laughter

For younger or older

Who knows what’s in store.

Friendship is what we must always share

Respect our elder show we care

Our little world reflect our true self

Up till — the end

Now… Now’s the time

For us to leave…

Many faces all around

Some with smiles and some with frowns

On the last day of the year

 Of the school life we have shared

Still we remember that very first day

Uniform tidy and bag in hand

We came to face

 This new special place

All on our own

A kind of new home

We never knew

What it would be like

To form part of this life.

In our work or play we learn to try our very best

Face our mistakes without feeling any shame

For we all knew how important it was

 To follow seriously those days

Which nothing can bring back.
